Consider the word "good", it's opposite is "bad". Imagine we were to discard the word "bad" and replace it with "ungood". Ungood no longer means "bad", it does not have the same emotion. It means "not good" which is much softer. Hence without the word "bad", we can no longer express the feeling of something being bad. If nobody expresses this feeling to us, then we never learn to feel it - we can never think of anything to be bad. We cannot disagree with something bad that is forced upon us.
Now instead of "superb" and "excellent", we consider replacing these words with "doublegood" and "doubleplusgood". Furthermore, "horrible" can be replaced with "doubleplusungood", a kind of word soup. So imagine yourself in a torture chamber, gee that's doubleplusungood - a kind of word soup where you are not even able to accurately express your horrible predicament.
If you do not have a word for an emotion, then you are not aware that it is possible for you to feel it. If you are not aware of a word for a concept, then you are not aware that it is possible for you to think it. With a smaller vocabulary, it is harder to commit thought crime.
Hence, diversity of words is an essential part of your freedom.
